Chinonye Akunne

Chinonye Akunne, MPH, currently serves as an EHS Audit Consultant at American Electric Power and an EHS Consultant at Citadel Safety Group, both since 2025. Chinonye is also a Co-Founder of Ilera Labs and ILERA Apothecary, leading the development of consumer packaged goods skincare products and overseeing vendor negotiations. Additionally, Chinonye is a Board Member and Onboarding Chairperson for the Detroit Institute of Arts' Founders Junior Council, where strategic planning and community engagement initiatives are emphasized. Previous experience includes mentorship at Goldman Sachs and leadership roles at Caravan Facilities Management, LLC, where strategic health and safety programs were successfully implemented. Chinonye's educational background includes a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health and a BA in Sociology and Physical Sciences from Eastern Kentucky University.
