Refugio Mariscal is a Senior Manager for Geospatial Data Analysis and Design at American Forests since January 2023. Previously, Refugio held the position of Geographic Information Systems Analyst at the National Audubon Society, where responsibilities included overseeing cartographic outputs, developing internal web GIS applications, and managing ecological datasets for the Great Lakes region. Refugio also created the Marsh Bird Data Hub to enhance regional collaboration and served as a representative on the Calumet Conservation Compact. Additional experience includes roles as Conservation Data Coordinator and Wild Indigo Coordinator at the National Audubon Society, as well as an ENL Science & Social Studies Teacher at Round Lake Area Schools CUSD 116. Refugio holds a Master of Science in Geographic Information Systems Technology from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography with a focus on Environmental Science from DePaul University.
