Maura Shapiro is a science writer at the American Institute of Physics since June 2021, where Maura co-creates and co-hosts the "Initial Conditions: A Physics History Podcast." Previously, Maura served as a Physics History Education and Outreach Intern at the Center for History of Physics and Niels Bohr Library & Archives, focusing on K-12 teaching guides about women and underrepresented groups in physics. Maura completed a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Communication, and Rhetoric at the University of Pittsburgh, where Maura also held roles as a public speaking tutor, lead undergraduate researcher for the Survey of Transiting Extrasolar Planets, campus tour guide, and student archivist for the University of Pittsburgh Library System. Maura's background combines research, education, and outreach in physics with a strong emphasis on communication and public engagement.
