Amy T. has a diverse work experience. Amy started their career as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Herbarium Collections Manager at Arizona State University from 1997 to 2000. Amy then worked as a Herbarium Collections Associate at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas from 2002 to 2003. In 2003, they also worked as an Adjunct Faculty at Arizona State University and as a Science Teacher at Nolan Catholic High School. From 2007 to 2012, Amy was an Associate Instructor at Indiana University Bloomington. Following that, they worked as an Assistant Professor at Towson University from 2012 to 2014. Amy then joined the University of Delaware, where they held various roles including Associate Director and Senior Associate Director of Science Education. Amy also worked as an Affiliate Faculty and Independent K-12 Education Consultant at the University of Delaware. Additionally, Amy has experience as a Science Instructional Specialist and Science Instructional Coach at the NEW CASTLE COUNTY VOCATIONAL-TECHNICAL SCHOOL DISTRICT. Currently, they are a Researcher at the American Institutes for Research.

Amy T. holds a Ph.D. in Science Education from Indiana University Bloomington, which they obtained between 2007 and 2012. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Science degree in Plant Biology at Arizona State University from 1997 to 2001. Amy T. also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Northern Kentucky University, where they studied from 1992 to 1996. In addition to their formal education, Amy T. has obtained several certifications, including a Secondary Science Teacher (Biology) certification and a Secondary Science Teacher (Chemistry) certification from the Education Department of Delaware in January 2020. Amy also holds the certification of an Engineering is Elementary Certified Trainer, granted by the Museum of Science in December 2014.
