Data Scientist at American Institutes for Research

Caitlin Deal has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Caitlin began their career as a Psychology Research Assistant at North Dakota State University from September 2010 to May 2011, where they assisted in running experiments and analyzed data using SPSS. Caitlin then worked as a Research Assistant at the Center for Social Research at NDSU from March 2012 to July 2013. Caitlin'sresponsibilities included organizing data and running statistical models.

In 2014, Caitlin had an internship as a Research Analyst at The Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education, where they managed a survey research project focused on high school students who took college courses. Caitlin designed, conducted, collected, and analyzed both online and telephone surveys.

From 2013 to 2015, they were a Research Assistant at the Gallup Research Center, where they worked as a Gallup Scholar with Gallup World Poll. Caitlin'srole involved research with paradata.

Since 2015, Caitlin has been working at the American Institutes for Research. Caitlin started as a Research Associate from August 2015 to June 2019, during which they managed small teams for GIS, data science, and survey research projects. Caitlin'sgeospatial responsibilities included using ArcGIS software for spatial modeling and analysis of survey and administrative data, creating interactive story maps and apps, conducting GIS trainings, and automating mapping tasks using Python. Caitlin also handled project requests and oversaw data science projects, including data cleaning and analysis with Python. In July 2019, they were promoted to the role of Data Scientist at the same company.

Caitlin Deal holds a Master's degree in Geospatial Information Sciences, which they completed at the University of Maryland from 2019 to 2022. Prior to this, they earned another Master's degree in Survey Research and Methodology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 2013 to 2015. Caitlin also has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Behavioral Statistics and Psychology, which they obtained from North Dakota State University between 2008 and 2013. Caitlin completed their high school education at Fargo North High School from 2004 to 2008.
