Managing Researcher at American Institutes for Research

Courtney Tanenbaum began their work experience in 2003 as a Principal Researcher at American Institutes for Research (AIR), where they focused on STEM education policy and promoting equity and access within STEM pathways. Courtney also served as the director of the STEM practice area, with a particular emphasis on the socio-cultural factors affecting diversity in STEM. In 2017, they continued their research career as a Principal Researcher at Amercan Institutes for Research, specializing in postsecondary education research and evaluation. This included a focus on closing equity gaps in access, retention, and degree attainment, with expertise in areas such as dual enrollment and dual credit education, developmental education reform, and broadening participation in STEM.

Courtney Tanenbaum has a strong educational background with a focus on higher education administration and policy. Courtney completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in History of Art & Architecture from Harvard University in 1999. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's degree in Education Policy and Leadership from the University of Maryland, which they obtained in 2003. Building upon their previous qualifications, they then earned an Ed.D. degree in Higher Education Administration from The George Washington University in 2014.
