Jasmine B. James

Research Associate at American Institutes for Research

Jasmine B. James has a diverse range of work experience. Jasmine started their career as a Student Mentor at SAY Village, North Carolina State University in 2016, where they developed mentoring relationships with students aged 10-12 and designed activities to support their interests and needs. In 2017, they became a TRIO Ambassador at TRIO SSS, North Carolina State University, providing academic resources to first-generation and low-income students and organizing social activities to promote diversity. Also in 2017, they began working as a Research Assistant at North Carolina State University, focusing on child development research and participating in the NC State Spring Undergraduate Research and Creativity Program. In 2018, they became a Ronald E. McNair Scholar at the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program at North Carolina State University, where they conducted research as part of the program. Jasmine also served as an SAEOPP McNair/SSS Scholars Conference attendee for the program. In 2019, they joined the University of Michigan as a Research Assistant. In 2020, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Georgia State University, specifically focusing on the Urban Child Study Center. Their most recent position is at the American Institutes for Research, where they started as a Research Associate Intern in 2021 and then transitioned to a Research Associate role in May 2022.

Jasmine B. James completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at North Carolina State University in May 2020. Jasmine went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Educational Research at Georgia State University, starting in 2020 and is expected to complete it in 2022.
