Mona Kilany

Senior Researcher at American Institutes for Research

Mona Kilany has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and organizations. Mona began their career as a Community Education Coordinator at the Mental Health Association of Arizona, where they developed and coordinated educational outreach activities focused on mental illness and public policy. Mona presented to various audiences on mental health topics and suicide prevention.

In 2006, Mona worked as a Program Intern at the Center for Healthcare Strategies, where they assisted program officers with a national initiative aimed at strengthening existing programs and expanding managed care for people with disabilities. Mona conducted extensive research on care management, performance measurement, and behavioral health integration.

From 2008 to 2011, Mona served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Sheps Center for Health Services Research, working on the evaluation of the ICARE integrated care demonstration. Mona conducted patient focus groups and interviews with providers to analyze the integration processes.

Mona then joined the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research as a Postdoctoral Fellow from 2014 to 2015, contributing to research projects in the health services field.

Since 2015, Mona has been working at the American Institutes for Research, initially as a Health Care Policy Researcher and currently as a Senior Researcher. Mona'sresponsibilities in these roles involve conducting research and contributing to policy projects related to health care.

Throughout their career, Mona has demonstrated a commitment to research and evaluation in the health services field, contributing to projects focused on mental health, policy, and care management.

Mona Kilany completed their education at different institutions over the years. Mona began their academic journey in 1999 at Arizona State University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. After graduating in 2003, Mona went on to further their studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. From 2005 to 2007, they obtained a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH), specializing in Health Policy & Administration. Mona then continued their educational pursuits at the same university and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Health Policy & Management - Health Services Research from 2007 to 2014.
