Director, Global Technology Innovations at American Printing House for the Blind

Heather Kennedy-MacKenzie has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Heather started their career at UPS in 1999 as an intern and was later promoted to a Business Professional. During their time at UPS, they developed applications, modified existing programs, and generated operational statistics. Heather then transitioned to a role as an Information Technology Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, and Intermediate Business Analyst, where they acted as a liaison between the Business Representatives and the IT department, elicited requirements, facilitated meetings, and documented software requirements. In 2012, Heather joined Appriss as a Project Manager, where they planned and managed multimillion-dollar projects and acted as a liaison between the business representatives and the IT department. Since 2014, they have been working at the American Printing House for the Blind, initially as a Technology Project Manager and currently as the Director of Global Technology Innovations. In this role, they lead a team of software engineers and professionals focused on developing cutting-edge accessibility technology, launching app technology for indoor wayfinding, and adapting STEM products for blind and visually-impaired students.

Heather Kennedy-MacKenzie, CSM, PSMII obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from Indiana University Southeast from 1996 to 2002. Additionally, they completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Spanish from the same institution from 1996 to 2001. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in Spanish from the University of Louisville from 2002 to 2004.
