Robin McLeod

Senior Director For Strategic Relations And Leadership at American Psychological Association

Robin McLeod, PhD, LP has a diverse work experience in the field of psychology. From 1996 to 2020, they served as the CEO/President of Counseling Psychologists of Woodbury. In 2014, they were an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Since 2017, they have been a member of the Minnesota Board of Psychology, holding various roles including Training Program Representative and Chair.

In 2020, Dr. McLeod became the President/Chief Business Development Officer of NATALIS COUNSELING AND PSYCHOLOGY SOLUTIONS, P.A. and the Chief Executive Officer of Counseling & Psychology Solutions Minnesota. Since 2021, they have been actively involved with the APA Division 42: Psychologists in Independent Practice, serving as President, President-Elect, and Member-At-Large.

Furthermore, Dr. McLeod has held key positions within the American Psychological Association (APA), including serving on the Council of Representatives, the Board of Professional Affairs, and as Chair of the Board of Professional Affairs. They have also been involved with various committees and groups within the APA, such as the Committee of State Leaders and the Committee on Exam Coordination.

Additionally, Dr. McLeod has contributed to the field through their involvement with the Association of State & Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) as a lead in the EPPP-2 Item Development Committee and as an item writer. They have also served as a Commissioner from Minnesota for PSYPACT, a national alliance of state and provincial psychology regulatory associations.

Currently, Dr. McLeod is appointed as the Senior Director for Strategic Relations and Leadership in the APA Practice Directorate, where they are responsible for strengthening relationships and aligning strategies among various stakeholders to advance the work of psychologists, advocacy for the profession, policy and leadership development, and member engagement and belonging.

Robin McLeod, PhD, LP has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota. They also completed doctoral study in Rhetorical Theory & Criticism, Department of Speech Communication, at Penn State University. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Communication from the University of Central Missouri and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Speech Education from Kansas State University.
