Sarah Mathias

Sarah Mathias has extensive experience in government relations and legislative affairs, currently serving as Senior Government Relations Director at the American Public Power Association since August 2019. Prior to this role, Sarah worked in the U.S. House of Representatives from September 2013 to June 2019 as Legislative Director and Senior Legislative Assistant for Congressman Adam Kinzinger, focusing on agriculture, education, energy, environment, healthcare, and trade. Key achievements include navigating bipartisan legislation addressing the Opioid Epidemic and advising on energy policy as part of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Energy. Additionally, Sarah completed a fellowship with the Clean Energy Leadership Institute in 2016. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Political Science from Bradley University and further studies at The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars.
