Eleasalo (Salo) Ale serves as the Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General of the American Samoa Government since January 2014, acting as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer and Legal Advisor. Prior to this role, Salo was a member of the Drake Law School Board of Counselors from 2011 to January 2021 and served as the Deputy Attorney General for American Samoa, overseeing the Civil Division from August 2012 to December 2013. Salo has a substantial background in commercial litigation, having worked as a partner at Faegre Baker Daniels LLP from September 1995 to August 2012, focusing on high-profile disputes in real estate and nonprofit sectors, as well as eminent domain cases. Salo began a legal career as a law clerk to Judge James Burns at the Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals from June 1994 to July 1995. Salo holds a JD from Drake University Law School (1994) and a BA in Political Science from Truman State University (1990).
