Ioanna Moutafi is a prominent bioarchaeologist with extensive experience in the analysis of human remains from ancient Greek contexts. Currently serving as a Post-Doctoral Fellow and Visiting Senior Associate Member at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, Moutafi conducts bioarchaeological research on remains from the Early Mycenaean cemetery of Ayios Vasilios in Laconia, Greece, since June 2015. At the University of Cambridge's McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, Moutafi holds the position of Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual European Fellow, focusing on the project "MYcenaean SOcial BIOarchaeology" to explore funerary practices and social dynamics during the Mycenaean period. Moutafi earned a Ph.D. in Bioarchaeology from the University of Sheffield, where earlier research included a multi-disciplinary analysis of funerary remains. Additional fellowships at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens allowed Moutafi to engage in significant bioarchaeological studies. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in funerary archaeology and human osteology and an undergraduate degree in archaeology from the University of Athens.
