American Society for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN)
The American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) is dedicated to improving patient care by advancing the science and practice of clinical nutrition and metabolism. Founded in 1976, ASPEN is an interdisciplinary organization whose members are involved in the provision of clinical nutrition therapies, including parenteral and enteral nutrition. With more than 6,000 members from around the world, ASPEN is a community of dietitians, nurses, pharmacists, physicians, scientists, students, and other health professionals from every facet of nutrition support clinical practice, research, and education. ASPEN supports its mission in a variety of ways. ASPEN publishes two highly respected journals, The Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and Nutrition in Clinical Practice. ASPEN's annual meeting, Clinical Nutrition Week, is the only scientific and clinical conference dedicated to specialized nutrition support research and clinical practice. ASPEN also publishes a variety of resources to drive safe, efficacious patient care, including Guidelines, Standards, publications and continuing education programs. Through the ASPEN Rhoads Research Foundation, ASPEN supports innovation in advancing the science of nutrition support. The Society also works closely with other health care organizations to advance a patient-centered approach to nutrition care and with government agencies to promote the optimal use of nutrition therapies. ASPEN offers healthcare professionals the resources they need to ensure their patients receive the best possible care. Visit http://www.nutritioncare.org/aspenresources/ for more information.
