Kristin Lewis has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Kristin is currently working as the Associate Director of Fellowship Programs at the American Society of Human Genetics since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at the AAAS as a Project Director, Public Engagement from 2019 to 2023. Kristin also served as a Senior Climate Change Scientist at the United States Global Change Research Program from 2016 to 2019. Additionally, Kristin has experience in volunteer work, having served as the Public Relations Manager at District 27 Toastmasters from 2015 to 2016. Kristin has also worked as an AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow at NASA from 2014 to 2016. Earlier in their career, they worked as an Associate Project Analyst at Independent Project Analysis from 2012 to 2014. Furthermore, Kristin has research experience from their time as a Research Associate and Graduate Student Research Assistant at the University of Michigan, where they worked on improving models of photosystem II, and as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they worked on quantum computing.
Kristin Lewis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics, Mathematics, and Astronomy-Physics from the University of Wisconsin in 2005. Kristin then pursued a Master's degree in Physics at the University of Michigan from 2005 to 2006, followed by a Ph.D. in Physics from the same institution, completed in 2011.

The American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG), founded in 1948, is the primary professional membership organization for human genetics specialists worldwide. The Society’s nearly 8,000 members include researchers, academicians, clinicians, laboratory practice professionals, genetic counselors, nurses and others who have a special interest in the field of human genetics. Our members work in a wide range of settings, including universities, hospitals, institutes, and medical and research laboratories. Our mission is to advance human genetics in science, health, and society through excellence in research, education, and advocacy.
