Mahdi Chehimi

Assistant Professor at AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF BEIRUT

Mahdi Chehimi is an Assistant Professor at the American University of Beirut since August 2024. Previously, Chehimi served as a Quantum Scientist at Ingenii from April 2023 to August 2024, focusing on the development of quantum machine learning algorithms for medical imaging. Chehimi's experience also includes roles as a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Virginia Tech from August 2020 to August 2024, and as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where research was conducted on quantum communication networks. Earlier roles include an internship as an R&D Engineer at Innovating Green Technology, researching machine learning applications in photovoltaic systems, and as a Graduate Research Assistant while completing a Master's degree at the American University of Beirut. Chehimi began academic pursuits as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Kuwait University, engaging in microwave engineering research. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Master's degree in Electrical, Wireless Communications, and Radio Frequency Engineering from the American University of Beirut.
