Astrid Bonilla

Astrid Bonilla has a diverse work experience in payroll and accounting roles. Astrid began their career as an Assistant Manager in the Payroll Department at HMSHost, where they managed payroll activities and provided support to corporate and field operations. Astrid later worked as a Manager in the Payroll Accounting Department, overseeing payroll account reconciliations and successfully transitioning all payroll accounting functions in-house. Additionally, Astrid worked as a Senior Accountant in the Banking Department, where they co-designed and implemented a new payroll system panel. Astrid then joined the Internal Audit Department as a Senior Auditor, conducting compliance and operational audits. Astrid went on to become the Senior Manager of the Payroll Tax Department at HMSHost, managing payroll tax payments and reporting for multiple legal entities. Astrid continued their career at BAE Systems Inc., first as a Payroll Tax and Compliance Manager, responsible for payroll tax reporting and accounting functions for a large number of employees. Astrid then became the Senior Audit Operations Manager, overseeing department operations and preparing budget and audit reports. Astrid later joined Fannie Mae as a Payroll Consultant, where they reviewed processes and recommended improvements. Astrid also served as the Corporate Accounting Services Manager, managing a team responsible for accounts payable and expense report functions. Currently, Astrid is working at American University as the Director of Payroll, leading the payroll department and overseeing payroll projects.

Astrid Bonilla earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 1990. Prior to that, they studied Business Administration at Montgomery College from 1987 to 1988. In 1983 to 1985, they attended the Cooperative University of Colombia and focused on Economics.
