Michelle Frederick has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Michelle began their career at the Smithsonian Institution in 1989 as a Training Specialist, where they established and led the first training office for the Office of Physical Plant. In 2000, they joined American University as the Training & Organizational Development Manager, responsible for designing and managing educational and developmental opportunities for the Facilities division. Michelle also served as the President-Elect of ERAPPA in 2012, acting as the liaison between the Board and the host committee. In subsequent years, Frederick held various leadership positions at ERAPPA, including President and Past President. Michelle was also involved in leadership roles at APPA and APPA - Leadership in Educational Facilities. Most recently, Frederick worked at American University as the Interim Director and later as the Senior Director of Talent Development.

From 1987 to 1988, they attended the University of Maryland and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio Television & Film. Later, in 1992 to 1994, they attended Georgetown University and earned a Certification in Training Specialist. Additionally, Michelle has obtained several certifications, including "Being a Good Mentor," "Cultivating Cultural Competence and Inclusion," and "Interpersonal Communication" from LinkedIn in 2019.
