Laura Rusu

Laura Rusu currently serves as the Senior Director of Media Relations at Amnesty International USA, a position held since October 2023. Prior to this role, Rusu spent nearly two decades at Oxfam America, progressing from Senior Press Officer to Director of Media and Public Relations (interim), where strategic leadership of media campaigns was provided to support advocacy and fundraising efforts against poverty and inequality. Rusu's earlier experience includes strategizing for corporate and nonprofit clients at Witeck Communications and internships with UNFPA and Open Society Foundations, along with a foundational role at Human Rights Watch focusing on women’s rights advocacy. Rusu holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University with a focus on Human Rights and International Media and Communications, a Summer Study Certificate in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford, and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and French from Indiana University Bloomington.
