Eefje Smet is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in health and humanitarian sectors. Currently serving as a PME and Research Adviser at Amref Flying Doctors since August 2015, Eefje focuses on enhancing health outcomes in Africa, particularly for young women. Prior to this role, Eefje worked as a Program Officer at Maatwerk bij Terugkeer (June 2012 - July 2015), providing reintegration support for asylum seekers and irregular migrants. Additional experience includes serving as a Consultant for Simavi, a Project Officer at War Trauma Foundation, and a Project Coordinator at HealthNet TPO, where Eefje worked on psychosocial support projects. Eefje also held academic positions at Hogeschool van Amsterdam and VU University Medical Center, teaching medical anthropology and research methods. Eefje holds a Master’s degree in Cultural and Medical Anthropology from the University of Amsterdam.
