Jill Yersak

Head, US ALS Patient Advocacy & Engagement at Amylyx

Jill Yersak, Ph.D., has a diverse work experience in the field of neuroscience, specializing in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and other related disorders. Jill has held various positions at reputable organizations such as Amylyx Pharmaceuticals, Biogen, The ALS Association, The ALS Association - RI Chapter, Brown University, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and Thomas Jefferson University.

Jill is currently serving as the Head of US ALS Patient Advocacy & Engagement at Amylyx Pharmaceuticals since 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Medical Science Liaison - ALS at Biogen from 2022 to 2023.

From 2015 to 2022, they held multiple roles at The ALS Association, including Vice President of Mission Strategy, Senior Director of Mission Strategy, Director of Mission Strategy, Associate Director of Research Communications, and Manager of Research Communications.

Jill Yersak also worked as a Science Advocate and Volunteer at The ALS Association - RI Chapter from 2013 to 2014. During this time, they actively participated in advocacy activities, volunteered at ALS clinics, and organized events to raise awareness about ALS research.

In their early career, they worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Brown University from 2011 to 2014, where they focused on generating C. elegans models to study mutations in ALS genes and their impact on cellular function. Prior to that, they served as a Research Consultant at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where they continued their studies on 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome.

Jill Yersak began their career as a PhD graduate student at Thomas Jefferson University from 2004 to 2011, conducting research in the field of neuroscience. Jill also worked as a Research Technician III at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from 2002 to 2004, where they assessed the role of candidate genes in heart development.

Throughout their career, Jill Yersak has showcased a passion for ALS research and has actively engaged in advocacy and community outreach efforts related to ALS. Their experience and expertise in the field make their a valuable asset in the neurosciences industry.

Jill Yersak, Ph.D., earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Ursinus College between 1998 and 2002. Jill then pursued their education further at Jefferson Health, where they completed their Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology from 2004 to 2011.
