Tina Hwang

As Chief Privacy Officer & VP Legal, Tina is responsible for safeguarding the privacy of the users. She joined Ancestry in March 2023 and brings 17 years of experience in legal compliance to Ancestry at some of the largest and most iconic global technology companies.

Tina served most recently as VP and Deputy General Counsel at Twitter, where she led a global team responsible for the product, IP, and privacy/regulatory compliance implementation functions.

Before that, Tina was Senior Director and AGC at WhatsApp, leading a central legal team during a time when the user base expanded globally to 10 billion users.

Prior to WhatsApp, Tina spent nearly ten years at Google, holding various legal and leadership roles, counseling eCommerce, payments, and communications products.

Tina is a proud native of St. Louis, Missouri. Tina holds a JD from UC Hastings College of the Law and a BS in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University.
