From 2011 to 2014, they worked at Promega as a Technical Support & Training Manager - Genetic Identity, providing technical support and training for Genetic Identity products and applications. From 2010 to 2011, Schwandt worked at the University of Wisconsin as a Research Specialist. From 2007 to 2010, they worked at Promega Corporation as a Technical Support and Training Manager - Genetic Identity and a Technical Services Scientist - Genetic Identity. Finally, from 2004 to 2007, Schwandt worked at the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory as a Forensic Scientist - DNA Analyst - Senior, examining physical evidence from casework for the presence of biological material and determining the DNA profile of the contributors.
Melissa Schwandt attended the University of Utah from 1996 to 2001 and obtained their Doctorate in Cellular & Molecular Immunology. Prior to that, they attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point from 1988 to 1993 and earned a BS in Biology, Chemistry, and Education.
