General Summary: The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compliant financial documents as well as preparing and settling landowner transactions in accordance with the underlying contractual obligations. This candidate will be highly detailed and organized. The candidate will enter financial data and transactions into the ledger and project folders, prepare account reconciliations, review financial documents and account reconciliations for accuracy, analyze financial data and provide financial recommendations, collaborate with other departments to complete accurate records and provide accounting support, and support the Auditor, Controller and other financial professionals in their duties as needed.

Primary Responsibilities and Competencies:

  • Assist in preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules according to the monthly close schedule
  • Assist Controllers and Accounting Managers with the annual audits
  • Prepare journal entries and account analyses
  • Maintain and reconcile cash accounts and other balance sheet general ledger accounts
  • Assist in the Interpretation of commercial contracts and prepare various data for entry into the ERP system
  • Review financial data and trends for accuracy and reasonableness, and investigate variances
  • Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs/policies, and procedures
  • Be accountable for same-day responses to most inquiries, timely submission of statements and other contracted deliverables, and calendar management
  • Manage interactions with sales/origination, operations, and finance
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of subsidiary and general ledgers, reconciling and analyzing accounts
  • Strong candidates will be effective communicators who exhibit the ability to engage in active listening; who are responsive, attentive, creative, empathic, friendly and patient; who are skilled in conflict-resolution and who can quickly integrate information to be able to present solutions and recommendations.
  • Assist divisional controllers with ad-hoc requests

Required Education, Experience and Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3+ years of work experience
  • Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Preferred Education, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • NetSuite ERP experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory environmental policies and markets preferred

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Strong skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in layman’s terms
