Andrea Black

Andrea Black has over 20 years of work experience in the field of clinical data management. Andrea started their career in 2000 as a Clinical Data Assistant, providing support to the Clinical Data Management and Biostatistics teams. Andrea played a key role in implementing a redesign of clinical files for over 20 paper-based trials.

Andrea then progressed to the role of Clinical Data Coordinator, where they were responsible for the first pass entry of paper case report forms and provided assistance to Senior Clinical Data Coordinators as necessary. Andrea also served as a point person for administrative tasks.

In 2002, Andrea was promoted to Senior Clinical Data Coordinator, where they took on senior level management of paper-based case report forms for global clinical trials. Andrea developed Data Management Plans and provided instruction to ensure timely entry of data and data corrections.

In 2003, Andrea transitioned to the role of Clinical Data Manager II, broadening their data management skills and adjusting tasks based on department reorganization and the introduction of Electronic Data Capture (EDC). Andrea developed validation plans for global clinical trials and provided case report form specifications for EDC trials.

In 2006, Andrea was promoted to the role of Senior Clinical Data Manager at Boston Scientific. Andrea performed data management functions to ensure the quality and integrity of data for global clinical trials, including database design and leading the clinical study team through start-up activities.

From 2009 to 2013, Andrea held the position of Principal Clinical Data Manager at Boston Scientific. Their responsibilities included performing data management functions, representing data management in risk-based planning meetings, and providing oversight for database design and staff mentoring.

Most recently, since 2014, Andrea has been working as a Senior Clinical Data Manager at AngioDynamics. Their main focus is on managing clinical data to ensure its quality and integrity.

Andrea Black earned an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies from Quincy College, which they attended from 1994 to 1996. Andrea then went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at UMass Boston from 1996 to 1998. Andrea also obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, although the specific time period is unknown. In 2013, they obtained certification as a Certified Clinical Data Manager from the Society for Clinical Data Management.
