Stephen Giese

Stephen Giese is an experienced geotechnical professional currently serving as the Underground Geotechnical Manager at Anglo American since January 2014. Throughout tenure at the company, Stephen has held multiple roles, including Specialist Geotechnical Engineer at the MetCoal Analytics Center, Geology and Geotechnical Superintendent, Geotechnical Engineer, and Graduate Mining Engineer. Prior experience includes a role as a Vacation Student at Rio Tinto, which provided valuable industry exposure at Tom Price Mine. Stephen holds a Master's degree in Mine Geotechnical Engineering and a Graduate Diploma in Coal Mine Strata Control from UNSW, as well as a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mining from The University of Queensland. Education credentials are complemented by completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education at Darwin High School.
