Themba Mkhwanazi

Themba Mkhwanazi is an experienced executive with a robust background in the mining and commodities sector. Currently serving as Chief Executive Officer for Bulk Commodities and Kumba Iron Ore at Anglo American since May 2014, Mkhwanazi has been instrumental in delivering high-quality iron ore to the global steel market and managing significant coal production operations in South Africa. Prior experience includes roles as Regional General Manager for the Americas at Rio Tinto and General Manager for Expansion Support within Rio Tinto Coal Australia. Additionally, Mkhwanazi held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Richards Bay Minerals and was Managing Director at Huntsman Tioxide Southern Africa. Mkhwanazi holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering from Teesside University, earned from 1988 to 1993.
