Kate Piesman is currently a Law Clerk for the Criminal Justice Program at the Animal Legal Defense Fund since May 2023 and is also engaged with the Essex County Criminal Court. Piesman previously served as a Judicial Intern at the NYC Criminal Court and conducted research at Seton Hall University School of Law. Early legal experience includes a Law Intern position at Adam L. Shapiro & Associates, P.C., where responsibilities involved case organization and client communication. Piesman has worked with children as a Teaching Assistant at SJ Enrichment Camp, served as a Sales Associate at HomeGoods, and interned at AHS Caring Communities of Astoria, supporting adults with cognitive impairments. Piesman earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from New York University and is pursuing a Doctor of Law at Seton Hall University School of Law.
