Michael Swistara is a Litigation Fellow at the Animal Legal Defense Fund since September 2022 and serves as an Assistant Professorial Lecturer in Law at The George Washington University Law School from July 2023 to July 2024. Michael has gained extensive experience in legal internships across various organizations, including Animal Outlook, Food & Water Watch, Mercy For Animals, DC Justice Lab, and The Humane Society of the United States. Michael also worked as a Law Clerk at the Environmental Law Institute and was a Law & Policy Intern for the Center for Popular Democracy. Academic credentials include a Juris Doctor with a concentration in Environmental Law and a Master of Public Policy from The George Washington University, alongside a Master of Arts in Economics from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from McGill University, and an International Baccalaureate Diploma from the International School Basel. Additionally, Michael completed coursework as a Visiting Student in Animal Law at Lewis & Clark Law School.
