Dean Richard Artis has extensive work experience in the field of biosciences and pharmaceutical research. Dean Richard currently holds the position of EVP and Chief Scientific Officer at Annexon Biosciences since 2023. Prior to this, from 2021 to 2023, they served as the Chief Scientific Officer at Octant.

Artis was previously associated with Annexon Biosciences from 2016 to 2021, where they held the role of Sr. Vice President, Chemistry. In this capacity, they led efforts towards small molecule classical complement inhibitors and played a crucial role in the nomination of ANX1502 as a development candidate.

Before joining Annexon Biosciences, Artis served as the President and CSO at Chorum Pharmaceuticals from 2012 to 2019. Chorum Pharmaceuticals was a holding company focused on research collaborations in diverse therapeutic areas.

Dr. Dean Richard Artis obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, between the years 1978 and 1982. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued further advanced education at Yale University, where they earned their Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from 1983 to 1989.
