Samuel Shethran

Samuel Shethran is the financial controller at Anthemis. Samuel has previous experience working as a financial controller at Troy Asset Management Limited from February 2020 to April 2021. Samuel was responsible for detailed monthly and yearly financial reporting packs which include financial statements, performance analysis and budgetary forecasts.

Samuel also oversaw and led the Finance team, including coaching and managing two direct reports and implementing robust processes and controls across the firm. Samuel was also responsible for review and sign off of journals posted and reconciliations completed.

In 2020, they led on the delivery and completion of the annual financial audit under remote working conditions in the spring. Samuel established innovative workarounds to satisfy auditor requests and delivered a successful audit and controls assurance audit report.

Expense and budget management was a key focus for him alongside administering and accounting for new share sales and purchases as well as the granting and exercise of share options. Samuel also prepared and submitted all FCA Prudential reporting through the Gabriel system.

A key success for him was the adaptation of all financial and operational processes into online and email based controls following the imposition of the UK lockdown in March 2020. Samuel was a hands on senior manager within the detail of all areas of finance impacting the firm.

Samuel also led deferred bonus calculations as well as the monitoring of funds under management and the selection of third party service providers.

Samuel Shethran has an AQ from the ICAEW in Auditing, Accounting, Finance and Business Management. Samuel is also a Chartered Accountant (ACA) from the ICAEW. Samuel has a BSc in Biochemistry from Queen Mary University of London and A Levels in Economics, Maths, Chemistry and Biology from Wimbledon College.
