Dr. Gangadhar Baniekal Hiremath has a diverse work experience in the field of genomics and biotechnology. Dr Gangadhar worked as a Scientist at Anuva, where they focused on understanding Indian population genetics through genome and exome sequencing. Dr Gangadhar also conducted research on bio-banking and deciphering lifestyle disorders and rare human diseases through genomics. Additionally, they had administrative responsibilities, such as managing data, inventory, and human resources. At Anuva, they successfully led complex projects and trained new employees. Prior to joining Anuva, Dr. Hiremath worked as an Assistant Professor at UAS Dharwad and the University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot, where they contributed to teaching and research in their field. Dr Gangadhar also worked as a Researcher and PhD student at the Department of Molecular Biotechnology, College of Life & Environmental Sciences Konkuk University, where they made significant contributions to the identification and characterization of abiotic stress tolerance genes in potatoes. Overall, Dr. Hiremath has a strong background in genomics research, project management, and teaching.
Dr. Gangadhar Baniekal Hiremath completed their Bachelor's degree in Agriculture at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad from 2004 to 2008. Dr Gangadhar then pursued a Master's degree in Agriculture Biotechnology at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University from 2008 to 2010. Following that, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Biology from Konkuk University between 2010 and 2015.
Dr. Hiremath also sought additional certifications to further enhance their knowledge and skills. In 2010, they participated in a Hands-on Training Workshop on "Structural Bioinformatics" at the Department of Bioinformatics, Dr.G.R.Damodaran College of Sciences, Coimbatore. In the same year, they attended a Lecture workshop on "Structure, Function And Design of Biomolecules" at the Structural Biology Lab, School of Life Sciences, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
In 2013, Dr. Hiremath received higher academic training on the use of bio-conductor and R software from the Rural Development Administration in Suwon, South Korea. Dr Gangadhar then earned Post Graduate Diplomas in Intellectual Property Rights from Annamalai University in 2015 and in Rural Development from the same university in 2016-2017.
Furthermore, Dr. Hiremath completed several more certifications to stay updated in their field. Most recently, in January 2021, they participated in a 2-week International Training on Large Data Bi-Informatics and a 3-week Workshop on Genome Informatics, both offered by Decodelife.
