Perception Internship

Internship · Zurich, Switzerland

Job description

The Opportunity

ANYbotics is constantly pushing the boundaries of robotics to achieve highest level performance for our customers. For our next generation robots we are in the process of evaluating new perception sensors (e.g. RGB cameras, depth cameras, Lidars, …)  and compute systems. We are looking for a motivated intern to aid our core team in selecting the ideal sensor suite and demonstrating new capabilities using off-the-shelf AI models.

Your attention to detail and autonomy will greatly benefit the sensor verification campaign that encompasses everything from tabletop tests of single sensors to full system tests of the full sensor suite on ANYmal. You will gather hands-on experience with the latest sensor technology, write prototyping software to enable the sensor integration and collect the right data to inform the selection process. During the second part of the internship you’ll focus your efforts on putting the new sensor suite to use by experimenting with off-the-shelf AI models for different  applications (e.g. object/people detection). You will be closely working together with a team of experts who will provide you with guidance and mentorship. The preferred starting date is June and the duration of the full-time paid internship is six months.

Market & Our Technology

ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the energy, process, and utility sector by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that so far were beyond reach. Our customers are large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics mechanical hardware.

Your Profile

  • Currently a master, PhD student or recent graduate in robotics, electrical engineering or related fields
  • Experience working with sensors (e.g. Cameras, Depth Sensors, Lidars) on a real system
  • Able to prototype software with C++/Python and ROS in a Linux environment
  • Prior experience working  with NVIDIA Jetson is a plus
  • Prior experience in implementing perception algorithms is a plus
  • Goal-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to achieving objectives
