Fayaz Aboobaker

Regional Director, Business Management MENA & India at APCO Worldwide

Fayaz Aboobaker has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Fayaz began their career at Habib Bank A.G. Zurich as an intern in 2006 and then moved on to BNP Paribas, where they also held an internship position in 2007.

In 2008, Fayaz joined TalkTalk as a Finance Analyst in London, where they were responsible for revenue assurance. Fayaz oversaw the evaluation of internal reports, analyzed millions of customer lines, and investigated billing anomalies. Fayaz also prepared analysis packs for the Finance Director.

Fayaz then joined a Single Family Office in Dubai as a Financial Analyst and Investment Administrator in 2010. Fayaz managed projects, conducted due diligence for investments, and handled logistics for a high net-worth family. Fayaz successfully completed legal formalities and due diligence for real estate investments worth USD 2 million.

From 2010 to 2016, Fayaz worked at Bell Pottinger Group, initially as a Temporary Finance Assistant, but quickly progressed to become the Finance and IT Manager. In this role, they reported to the Group CFO and was responsible for all finance, IT, and operational matters. Fayaz successfully implemented a global ERP system, reduced finance team headcount, and improved commercial pricing tools. Fayaz also provided financial counsel to senior management, negotiated contract extensions, and advised on staffing restructuring.

In 2016, Fayaz joined CSM Sport & Entertainment as the Head of Finance for the MEA region. Fayaz established new regional headquarters in Dubai, set up regional finance functions, and collaborated on strategic planning and budgeting. Fayaz also implemented best practices and policies to improve operational efficiency.

In 2017, Fayaz joined APCO Worldwide as a Business and Finance Manager for the IMEA region. Fayaz oversaw the implementation of VAT in the UAE, managed commercial pricing, and developed a model to assess employee and project performance. Fayaz later took on roles as Regional Director of Financial Planning & Analysis and Regional Director of Business Management MENA & India. In these roles, they led the establishment of offices in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, improved business intelligence through data automation, and assumed responsibility for the finance function.

Throughout their work experience, Fayaz demonstrated their ability to lead teams, drive efficiency, implement systems, and provide strategic financial counsel.

Fayaz Aboobaker attended Cass Business School from 2005 to 2008, obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Investment and Financial Risk Management. In April 2017, they obtained the ACMA, CGMA certification from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
