Katherine Fountain Mackinnon has extensive work experience in various roles and positions. Katherine worked as the Director (Vice President) at APCO Worldwide starting in 2019. Prior to that, they were an Account Supervisor at Nyhus Communications from 2015 to 2018 and an Account Manager from 2015 to 2018. Before that, they founded and served as the CEO of KFM Strategies from 2013 to 2015. Katherine also worked at the Downtown Seattle Association as Policy & Community Relations from 2010 to 2013. In addition, they were a 2011 Fellow at the Institute for a Democratic Future. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Legislative Aide for Seattle City Councilmember Jan Drago from 2006 to 2009 and as a Legislative Intern for Seattle City Councilmember Peter Steinbrueck from 2005 to 2006.

Katherine Fountain Mackinnon pursued their undergraduate education from 2001 to 2005 at McGill University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. Katherine'smajor fields of study included Political Science and English Literature. Later, they expanded their skill set by completing a Certificate in Project Management from the University of Washington, during the academic year 2008-2009.
