Richard Stoneham

Richard Stoneham has a diverse work experience in the legal sector. Richard is currently working as the Chief Privacy Officer and Associate General Counsel at Apex Fintech Solutions since April 2022. Prior to this, they worked as Counsel at PEAK6 Investments from October 2019 to April 2022. Richard also gained experience as a Privacy and Legal Adviser at The How Osteopathic Clinic, where they helped design and implement data protection compliance for a small business. Richard worked at Sainsbury's Bank as an In-house Lawyer, handling a wide range of commercial contracts and providing guidance on GDPR contractual matters from November 2017 to October 2018. Richard began their career as a Trainee Solicitor at Shepherd and Wedderburn, where they drafted and negotiated loan documents and managed deals from August 2015 to August 2017. Richard also completed a six-month secondment as a Trainee Solicitor at Sainsbury's Bank, assisting with various legal tasks and providing support to business stakeholders.

Richard Stoneham began their education at Fettes College from 1999 to 2008, where they studied subjects such as Business Studies, History, Physics, Mathematics, and English. Richard then went on to The University of Edinburgh, where they obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in Law from 2008 to 2013. After completing their undergraduate studies, in 2014 to 2015, Richard pursued a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at The University of Edinburgh. Additionally, they have achieved several certifications, including being admitted as a Solicitor in Scotland by The Law Society of Scotland in November 2016. Richard also holds certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Limited License as House Counsel from the Illinois Supreme Court, Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPPUS), and Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals. The obtained years for these certifications range from 2019 to 2023.
