Role Summary

We are seeking a Director, Internal Communications at Apogee. This individual will be responsible for planning, developing, leading and executing a comprehensive internal communication strategy that fosters engagement, alignment and connection across Apogee, a rapidly growing, primarily remote organization. As Director of Internal Communications, you will play a critical role enhancing the employee experience, driving organizational culture and aligning communication efforts with Apogee’s strategy. The position reports into the Apogee People (HR) team.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement an internal communications strategy that supports Apogee’s goals and objectives, including approach, channels, voice, annual calendar, etc. 
  • Manage and develop all company-wide internal communications content, ensuring messages are delivered in a consistent, clear and compelling manner. This includes leading content development for existing forums: bi-weekly all team calls, quarterly in-person all hands, ad hoc all employee emails, and new forums identified in development of internal communications strategy.  
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic counsel and guidance on internal communications matters.   
  • Partner closely with Talent Acquisition team on development of recruiting collateral to attract high calibre talent, including but not limited to creation of Employee Value Proposition, enhancements to our Careers page, contribution to Best Company to Work award applications. 
  • Partner closely with Head of People on a variety of HR communication initiatives, including but not limited to Annual Engagement Survey, Learning & Development, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. 
  • Conduct employee trainings on effective communications and change management.   
  • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of communication strategies and tactics for continuous improvement, measured by qualitative and quantitative feedback. 

Ideal Candidate 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field 
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Communications, with a proven track record of developing and executing strategic communication plans 
  • Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry required 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to tailor message to appropriate audience  
  • Able to navigate ambiguity and has a high sense of urgency 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, collaborate effectively with and influence cross-functional stakeholders 
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, critical thinker  
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with aggressive timelines and changing priorities 
  • Successfully exhibit Apogee’s C.O.R.E. values 
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% (approximately 3-6 times per year for company meetings) 

 The anticipated salary range for candidates for this role will be $210,000 - $230,000/ year. The final salary offered will depend on several factors, which may include, but is not limited to relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.
