About the Role We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Logistics Associate to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in managing and optimizing our logistics operations, ensuring that goods are shipped and received accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in logistics, strong organizational skills, and a proven track record of working effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Contract Duration: Permanent Reporting Lines: This role will report to the Logistics & Distribution Lead

Responsibilities:

  • Movement of goods from source to storage Locations: You will be responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient movement of goods from manufacturers, importers, and other partners to our store locations. You will work with partners and relevant stakeholders to ensure that we are efficiently moving products to maintain acceptable stock levels at all storage locations to enable the fulfillment of Partner pickups at all times.
  • Movement of goods from various storage locations to pick-up locations: You will manage our Logistics and Distribution Last mile needs, including the movement of goods from our storage locations to the pickup locations and ensuring we are always stocked at these locations for the fulfillment of farmer pick-ups.
  • Transport Optimization: Play a key role in optimizing our first-mile deliveries by analyzing order volume, delivery windows, and cost factors. You'll utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to plan efficient routes, consolidating shipments and optimizing loads. This data-driven approach will contribute to reducing transportation costs and significantly improving delivery speeds, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Auditing of Agro-dealers: You will be responsible for conducting regular audits at all sales locations of Apollo, specifically our Agro-dealers. You will manage a team of Area Logistics Coordinator to ensure that audits are done following our high standards and that all data is captured correctly and timely in our systems
  • Performance management: You will build systems that ensure continuous performance management of the team and distribution partners. You will build the team, innovate and lean into the intersection of operations and technology to systematically manage its performance. You will also build, manage, and motivate the team, including setting KPIs, hiring required staff, and effectively managing the growing team with consistent team training and performance reviews.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make recommendations for optimization.
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant logistics software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience in managing and motivating teams to achieve performance targets.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in auditing processes and data management.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to transportation and logistics in Zambia.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and willingness to take on new challenges as the business evolves.
