Zoe Stephenson

Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager at Applied Invention

Zoe Stephenson has worked in a variety of positions since 2008. Zoe began their career as a Woman Peer Counselor and Community Assistant for Brown University's Office of Residential Life, where they provided live-in crisis support, mediation, community-building events, and psychological assistance/referral for university dorm students. From 2009 to 2011, they were a Lab and Web Intern at Intellectual Ventures Lab, followed by a Chemistry and Engineering Intern at Applied Minds in 2011. In 2012, they began working as a Mechanical Engineer at Applied Minds, where they used Autodesk Inventor CAD software almost every day and PTC's Mathcad almost every week to design giant clocks, robots, and consumer electronics prototypes. Zoe also machined parts by hand and CNC with Delcam's PowerMILL, 2.5D and 5-axis, and had good by-hand sheet metal fabrication skills. In 2014, they joined Applied Invention as a Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager, where they did everything from preliminary materials research and product brainstorming to small-first-run manufacture. Zoe also used Autodesk Inventor CAD software almost every day and PTC's Mathcad almost every week to design giant clocks, robots, and consumer electronics prototypes, and machined parts and fold up sheet metal parts by hand, as well as fabricating with a CNC mill, lathe, wire EDM and waterjet.

Zoe Stephenson attended Brown University from 2008 to 2012, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Chemistry.
