Sr. Automation Engineer at Applied Manufacturing Technologies

Kevin Ockert has worked in a variety of engineering and labor roles since 1995. Kevin began their career as a student at Lake Superior State University, before joining Applied Manufacturing Technologies in 2000 as a Project Leader for Robotics. In this role, they lead crews for robot programming and debugging, and helped to build, install, debug and support numerous robotic systems for Ford and GM. In 2002, they moved to Sogge Enterprises Inc. as a Driver/Laborer, where they scheduled driving routes for deliveries, pickups, and servicing, and performed daily maintenance and repairs on trucks and equipment. In 2003, they returned to Applied Manufacturing Technologies as a Project Leader for Robotics, leading crews for robot programming and debugging, and training new employees in robot programming and debugging. Kevin also lead a 12-person robot programming crew in charge of a portion of the Ford Freestyle / Ford 500 (D219/D258) Launch at Ford Chicago Stamping. In 2005, they joined EaglePicher as a Systems Engineer, helping in the design of new equipment and in the redesign of the safety of the existing equipment, and performing daily maintenance and repairs on robotic and other automated equipment used in machining parts for the automotive field. Kevin then returned to Applied Manufacturing Technologies in the same year as an Automation Engineering Leader, interviewing Engineers and helping place engineers in projects they were suited for, leading crews for controls, robot programming and debugging, and training new employees in PLC programming, robot programming and debugging. In 2014, they moved to Hutchinson as an Automation Maintenance Manager, and in 2015 they joined Applied Manufacturing Technologies again as a Sr. Automation Engineer.

Kevin Ockert completed their high school education at Kingley Area High School from 1991 to 1995. Kevin then attended the Traverse Bay Area Career Tech Center in 1994 to 1995 and completed the Electrical / Electronics Technical Program. Following that, they attended Lake Superior State University from 1995 to 2000 and obtained a BS EET in Engineering.
