David Smith

Principal Cyber Subject Matter Expert at Applied Research Associates, Inc.

David Smith has over 15 years of work experience in the field of communications and technical operations. David started their career in 2007 as a Special Operations Communication Team Leader, where they provided C4I services in various configurations. David then moved on to become an A6X Flight Chief, where they oversaw special communications and cyber operations for a sensitive activities unit. In this role, they successfully revamped a classified network and gained approval from the National Security Agency. Most recently, David served as an A6 Superintendent, where they led a team of 80 members in managing the full program lifecycle for an Air Force Special Tactics Group. In this role, they controlled operational flow, resource allocation, and training & development. Currently, they hold the position of Principal Cyber Subject Matter Expert at ARA, starting in 2022.

David Smith's education history begins with their enrollment at the Community College of the Air Force in 2002, where they pursued an Associate's degree in Information Technology. After completing their studies at the Community College of the Air Force, David attended the University of Arkansas Grantham and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, General. David is expected to graduate from the University of Arkansas Grantham in 2022.

In addition to their formal education, David has obtained several certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills. David became a Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator in June 2014, earning the certification from Red Hat. In May 2013, they achieved the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 640-802 certification from Cisco. David also completed the Implementing Cisco IP Routing (642-902) course, offered by Cisco, in an unspecified year. Furthermore, they hold certification in Security+ from CompTIA and Data ONTAP 8.0 7-Mode Administrator NS0-154 from NETAPP. Additionally, David has a Network+ certification from CompTIA, although the details of when they obtained it are unknown.
