Jim Swart

Jim Swart has significant experience in the field of cybersecurity and information security. Jim is currently Chief Information Security Officer at Apprio Inc. starting in 2021. Prior to this, Swart worked as a Cyber Security Adjunct Faculty at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where they taught various courses related to cybersecurity. Jim also worked as a Principal Cyber Security Consultant and Trainer at Semper Fi Solutions LLC, where they developed a comprehensive curriculum and provided training in advanced cybersecurity topics.

Before that, Swart served as the Hunt Operations Course Developer at root9B, where they developed a curriculum for an Active Adversarial Pursuit Linux course. Jim also worked as an Offensive Cyber Operations (OCO) Subject Matter Expert at the United States Cyber Command, conducting computer network operations in support of national security.

Swart has also held positions as Chief Application Security Architect at UnitedHealth Group, Mission Director at CyberPoint International, Technical Director at the National Security Agency, and Penetration Tester and Systems Engineer at Lockheed Martin.

Prior to their work in the private sector, Swart served in the United States Marine Forces Reserve, where they worked as a Journeyman CNE Operator, NSA Red Team Operator, and Gunnery Sergeant of Marines.

Jim Swart has a comprehensive education history that includes multiple degrees and certifications. In 2016-2017, they attended Argosy University, where they obtained a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Organizational Leadership. Prior to that, in 2013, they completed a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Cyber Security at the University of Maryland Global Campus. Additionally, Jim holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Theology/Theological Studies from Anderson University, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Information Systems from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

In terms of certifications, Jim Swart obtained the following: Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) from EC-Council in September 2017, CompTIA A+ Certification from CompTIA in March 1999, CompTIA PenTest+ ce Certification from CompTIA in May 2021, CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) from CompTIA in October 2019, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in August 2000, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) from Cisco in June 1999, and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) from Cisco in June 2002.
