Katie James

Katie James has a diverse work experience in the field of finance, research, and development. Katie is currently working as a Financial Software Developer (kdb+) at Data Intellect, where they primarily develop financial software using kdb+/q. Katie also has experience in FX Production Support and has developed skills in various programming languages and computational tools such as Amazon Web Services, Linux/Unix, and the FIX protocol.

Prior to their current role, Katie worked as a Research Intern at the Earth Observatory of Singapore. During this time, they expanded on their Bachelor's project and successfully developed a tool to analyze a seismic network's ability to detect magma movement. Katie'sresearch from this project was published in a leading volcanology journal.

Katie also gained experience as a Summer Research Intern at the London Mathematical Laboratory. In this role, they further researched seismic hazard in Bhutan and created probabilistic models using MATLAB and Python. Katie also utilized high-performance computing to forecast future ground shaking in the region.

Katie James attended the University of Bristol from 2017 to 2021, where they pursued an MSci degree in Geophysics with Study Abroad. In 2019, they had the opportunity to study at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore as part of their geophysics program. Katie obtained additional certifications in 2022, including the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate and the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
