Mahavir Prashad

Mahavir Prashad has extensive work experience in the field of chemical development and process research and development. Mahavir began their career at Novartis in 1985, where they held various leadership roles such as Lab Head in Medicinal Chemistry and Group Head in Process R&D. During their time at Novartis, they led the merger of the two Process R&D groups and established a network of strategic CRO/CDMO partners. Mahavir also played a key role in establishing and managing the Chemical Development Unit in the US and China. In 2021, they joined Sai Life Sciences Ltd as Vice President and Head of Early Phase Process Development, where they focused on strengthening the company's early phase acceleration strategy and building relationships with clients and partners. Currently, Mahavir Prashad serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Scientist at Aragen Life Sciences, where they are responsible for enhancing productivity, innovation, and creativity within the company's Chemical R&D department. Mahavir has also led the Chemical Development Solutions business unit as Senior Vice President, overseeing a large team and managing the unit's profitability.

Mahavir Prashad's education history includes various degrees and research positions. Mahavir was an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Bielefeld University, where they focused on the use of Phase-Transfer Catalysis in Organic Synthesis. Later, they pursued a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow, India (formerly Meerut University). After completing their Ph.D., Prashad became a Post Doctoral Fellow at Duke University, specializing in Organic Chemistry. Additionally, they also held the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Bath, conducting research on the synthesis of beta-lactam antibiotics and peptides.
