Maureen Coghlan

Partner & Co-Chair, Environmental Justice at Archer Law

Maureen serves as Co-Chair of Archer’s Environmental Justice Practice Group and has extensive experience in all aspects of complex litigation, including environmental law, condemnation and eminent domain, energy and utilities, class actions, mass torts, regulatory investigations, and contract disputes. Maureen devotes a substantial part of her practice to complex civil litigation and regulatory compliance counseling, helping clients find strategic and practical approaches to solving problems that maximize business opportunity and minimize risk.

Maureen represents clients in federal and state trial courts and appellate courts, before federal and state administrative agencies, and in alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Her litigation experience includes helping clients resolve contested, high-stakes matters, governmental investigations, Superfund cleanups and lawsuits, actions against private parties to enforce contract provisions, contribution/allocation actions, historical and factual investigations, and eminent domain proceedings in federal and state courts.

Maureen’s background in complex civil litigation includes helping clients manage cost-effective, multi-party discovery, complete investigations, retain expert witnesses, and handle all aspects of motion practice and trial. She helps develop litigation approaches designed to achieve clients’ business needs and objectives.

Prior to joining Archer, Maureen had the privilege of serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Renée Marie Bumb, United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey (2009-2011), and the Honorable George L. Seltzer, Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division (Ret.) (2006-2007).
