Ralph Muehleisen

Ralph Muehleisen serves as the Chief Building Scientist and Buildings & Industrial Technologies Group Leader at Argonne National Laboratory, where responsibilities include leading research initiatives focused on improving energy efficiency, sustainability, and overall quality of life in the built environment. Additionally, Ralph holds the position of NAISE Fellow at the Northwestern-Argonne Institute for Science and Engineering, engaging in R&D collaborations. Ralph has extensive teaching experience as an adjunct associate professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology, covering various subjects in Architectural Engineering, and has contributed as a member of the Board of Directors for IBPSA-USA and the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance. Prior roles include research staff at the University of Chicago and significant academic positions at the University of Colorado and Illinois Institute of Technology, along with consulting work in acoustics and building energy. Ralph earned a Ph.D. in Acoustics from Penn State University and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
