John Mayo

John Mayo is the current Chief Operating Officer at Arlington Public Schools. Prior to this, they served as Deputy Superintendent at Petersburg City Public Schools from January 2019 to December 2021. Before that, they were the Chief Human Resources Officer at Baltimore County Public Schools from January 2012 to September 2019. John has also served as Assistant Superintendent at Petersburg City Schools from January 2010 to December 2012 and as Principal at Henrico County Public Schools from January 2007 to December 2010.

John Mayo has a Doctor of Education from Virginia Tech in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, a Master of Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in Administration and Supervision, and a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Union University in Biology.

They work with Catherine Ashby - Assistant Superintendent, School & Community Relations, Jason Ottley - Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer, and Kimberley Graves - Chief of School Support. John Mayo reports to Francisco Durán, Superintendent.
