Katherine Palozola, PhD has a diverse work experience. Katherine is currently a Senior Investigator, RNA Biology at Aro Biotherapeutics, a position they started in 2022. From 2019 to 2022, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Penn Epigenetics Institute. From 2017 to 2019, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Penn Center for Advanced Retinal and Ocular Therapeutics, where they led a team through preclinical IND-enabling studies to PRE-IND consultation submission, authored study reports, SOPs, and validation reports, and developed and validated SOPs for potency assays. From 2012 to 2017, they were a Doctoral Student at the Penn Institute for Regenerative Medicine, where they discovered active transcription in mitosis, developed and applied novel analytical approaches for nascent RNA-seq, and investigated the mechanisms of inheritance of gene expression patterns in liver cells. From 2016 to 2017, they were the Editor in Chief, Writer, and Founder of the Cell and Molecular Biology Student Newsletter, where they founded the student newsletter for their graduate group and built and led the team to publish an ongoing quarterly newsletter. In 2016, they were a Consultant at the Penn Biotech Group. From 2014 to 2016, they were a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Pennsylvania, where they independently organized and led weekly discussion sections for 15 graduate students, worked with other TAs to write exams, and graded exams and papers. Katherine was also the New Student Events Coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania. From 2009 to 2012, they were a Research Specialist at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where they characterized targets of a Ras-regulated transcription factor using biochemical and genetic approaches, and showed that Ras acts in the canonical EGF/RAS/ERK pathway to promote duct cell fate.
Katherine Palozola, PhD has an educational background that includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics and Epigenetics from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, which they obtained between 2011 and 2017. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology, General from Denison University between 2005 and 2009. In addition, they have obtained various certifications from LinkedIn, including Project Management Foundations, Meeting Facilitation, Project Management Skills for Leaders, Coaching Employees through Difficult Situations, Coaching Skills for Leaders and Managers, Leading from the Middle, Management Foundations, and Performance Management: Setting Goals and Managing Performance.
