Ewan Fonda-Marsland

Ewan Fonda-Marsland has a diverse range of work experience in the field of aerospace engineering. Ewan started their career as an intern at pi-top, where they gained practical experience in mechanical product design and electrical hardware testing. Ewan then moved on to the University of Southampton, where they held multiple roles including Systems Engineering Consultant, Space Subsystem Research Engineer, and Laboratory Facilities and Research Coordinator. In these positions, they worked on various satellite propulsion research programs, managed university research and teaching laboratories, and provided technical consultancy for industrial projects. Ewan later joined Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) as a Consultant Technical Specialist, where they were actively involved in a knowledge transfer project and provided technical support for the integration and testing of a propulsion system. Most recently, they have been working at Arqit as the Lead Satellite Systems Engineer, overseeing the development of quantum-optical satellite missions and managing a team. Additionally, they have been involved in data analytics, technical design and verification, and the development of embedded flight software and communication protocols. Throughout their work experience, Ewan has demonstrated strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work on complex projects with significant funding and international collaborations.

Ewan Fonda-Marsland completed a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Warwick between 2009 and 2014. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Space Systems Engineering at the University of Southampton from 2015 to 2016. Ewan then continued their studies at the University of Southampton, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering from 2016 to 2020.
