Anne Searle Bent

Trustee at Art Institute of Chicago

Anne Searle Bent is currently a trustee at the Art Institute of Chicago. Anne has been in this role since 2007. Prior to that, they were a visiting lecturer at The University of Chicago from September 1985 to April 2007. In this role, they taught graduate seminars on French and Italian drawings, 17th-century Italian drawings, and 16th-century Florentine drawings. Anne also taught connoisseurship seminars at the Art Institute of Chicago on Florentine drawings in 1994, French 18th-century drawings in 1987, and Old Master drawings in 1985.

From September 1983 to April 1984, Anne was an adjunct professor at Northwestern University where they taught Renaissance, Baroque, and 19th-century Prints & Drawings. Prior to that, they were a curatorial assistant in charge of the Prints Department at Harvard University's Fogg Art Museum from September 1974 to January 1975.

Anne began their career as an intern in public education at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from June 1972 to August 1972.

Anne Searle Bent received a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from Harvard University, an M.A. in Fine Arts from Harvard University, and an A.B. Cum Laude in Art Theirtory from Smith College.
